Here’s a fat loss hack: HIIT training
HIIT/High Intensity Interval Training is a form of cardiovascular exercise that varies from 4 – 30 minutes. (Note you can get an effective HIIT workout in 4 minutes.) It’s composed of a short, intense workout period followed by a rest period. This workout provides improved athletic capacity and conditioning, improved glucose metabolism and IMPROVED FAT BURNING (Wikipedia).
What I love about HIIT training is that 30 minutes HIITing is probably as effective if not more so than 60 minutes of aerobics, step, lifting, running, line dancing, walking, etc.
What I also love about HIIT training is that you can make up your own exercise routines to do whenever for however long you can. It’s a great home workout because it doesn’t require any equipment or lots of space.
Here’s one I made up as I was writing this blog:
Group 1: Jumping Jacks, Sumo Squats, Pushups, Mountain Climbers
Active Rest: Marching in Place
Repeat
Group 2: Triceps Dips, Plank, Burpees- no push up, Wall Squat
Active Rest: Speed Skaters
Repeat
Group 3: Russian Twists, Fire Hydrants, Jumping Jacks, Double Leg Raises
Active Rest: Front kicks
Repeat
Download a HIIT timer from your app store and set the intervals for 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest. The total workout time depends upon how many intervals you’ll do.
